WECON PDP-3 series
An introduction to design principles & scope
This scheme entails the industrial pilot implementation and subsequent commercial promotion operations for an innovative small scale wind energy system. Anticipated power delivery is in the order of 3 KW out of a high-solidity 3.5m diameter rotor (higher capacities -10 & 50 KW- via utilization of the common technological features are easily attainable). The design offers significant advantages not only in comparative cost/performance and simplicity of construction and maintenance, but mainly in the capacity to readily serve in a mutlitude of domicile applications such as:
-
a) Water Heating & Cooling
b) Stabilized Electric Power production
c) Fresh Water Production out of sea water desalination
d) Water Pumping with self priming capability for high depth suction operation
This overall design rational in the WECON PDP-3 aimed to deliver a product suitable for the actual needs of a modern domicile. In this respect, the power delivery requirements, are only a minor portion of the overall energy cycle, the primary percentage attributed to the thermal/cooling cycle. A direct cycle had to be designed as to offer utilization of wind energy in thermal conversion delivered in water heating/cooling, without prior conversion to an electricity cycle and without using complex engineering. This design feat became possible via conversion of wind energy to compressed air. As a secondary option, intermediate air-buffering provides an efficient torque stabilization during an electric power production cycle.
Among several highly innovative features in implementing a highly efficient Wind Energy power uptake system, was the original design and realization of a radically new approach in utilizing compressed air as the power delivery system. This computerized control pneumatic power system -codenamed "ANEMIRA" - provided a breakthrough approach for a number of critical application steps, as is electricity production, desalination and pumped storage.
